Who is Asmar Hussain?
Hello and welcome to Asmar’s Photography!
I am Asmar Hussain, a passionate photographer with a journey that spans over 15-17 years of dedication and perseverance. My story is one of resilience, hope and an unwavering belief in the beauty of Pakistan. Born in Dera Ismail Khan, my life took a drastic turn in 2008 when I lost my father to a tragic act of terrorism. This event compelled my family and me to move to Abbottabad, seeking solace and a new beginning.
Amidst the chaos and heartbreak, I discovered a new passion—photography. Armed with nothing more than a borrowed mobile phone, I began capturing the world around me, determined to showcase the positive side of Pakistan during a time when it was often in the news for all the wrong reasons. My first significant breakthrough came when I visited Naran and photographed the enchanting Lake Saif-ul-Malook. This photograph won a university competition, igniting a spark within me to pursue photography and travel more earnestly.
Since then, I have never looked back. For the past 14 years, I have been traveling to the mesmerizing northern areas of Pakistan, capturing its unparalleled beauty and sharing it with the world. My journey from an amateur hobbyist to a celebrated photographer has been nothing short of remarkable. In 2014, my work was featured on the front page of the National Geographic website—a milestone that took six years of relentless effort to achieve.
My dedication and skill in landscape photography have earned me the prestigious position of Sony Brand Ambassador for the Middle East and Africa. I am proud to be the only Pakistani representing Sony in this capacity, a testament to my commitment to excellence in photography. From 2008 to 2018, as Pakistan transitioned from a country known for terrorism to a top tourist destination, I have been there, documenting its transformation and sharing its story with the world.
Over the years, my work has been exhibited in over 15 countries, and I have received numerous national and international awards, including the Paris International Street Photography Award and the All Pakistan World Mountains Day Photography Award 2023. As a professional photography trainer, I have trained hundreds of students across Pakistan, delivering more than 30 workshops, which includes BNU Lahore, Superior University Lahore, University of Agriculture Faisalabad and many more..
My expertise extends beyond photography to filmmaking and documentary work, including storytelling, timelapses, and nature documentaries. I have collaborated with corporate companies, creating compelling visual stories that resonate with audiences, I have worked with PC hotels, Khoj Resorts Shigar, Offto Resort Hunza and more.
I am also an experienced tour organizer, having traveled to the northern areas of Pakistan for 14 years. My company, Travel Bug, offers curated tours for solo travelers, families, groups, photographers, corporate teams, and high-altitude adventurers, ensuring unforgettable experiences in the breathtaking landscapes of Pakistan.
Thank you for visiting Asmar Photography. I invite you to explore my portfolio and join me in celebrating the extraordinary beauty of Pakistan through the lens of my camera.
Warm regards,
Asmar Hussain
